CAVT New Commandant Begins Duties

The newly-appointed Commandant of the Centre for Army Vocational Training (CAVT) at Saliyawewa, Kalaoya, Brigadier K.A.W Kumarapperuma assumed office on Thursday (8) as the 4th Commandant at the CAVT during a brief ceremony that gave prominence to religious observances.

A Guard Turnout, presented in his honour at the main entrance greeted the new CAVT Commandant before he was conducted to the office by Senior Officers.

He afterwards symbolically inaugurated his office by placing his signature in an official document as members of the Maha Sangha began invoking blessings on the new Commandant by chanting Seth Pirith.

By planting a sapling, the new Commandant inside the CAVT Headquarter premises added memories as one more item on the day's agenda. He then addressed Officers and Other Ranks serving in the CAVT and sought their support for conduct of affairs.

Brigadier Randula Hathnagoda, the outgoing CAVT Commandant, together with several senior Officers and Other Ranks took part in the occasion.
