New Chief of Staff Honoured at His Regimental Headquarters

Troops of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) of the Army in conforming with military traditions presented a Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour to their Colonel of the Regiment Major General Amal Karunasekara, the newly-appointed Chief of Staff of the Army on Thursday (10) at the SLLI Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda.

Upon his arrival at the SLLI Regimental Headquarters, a Guard Turnout greeted him after the SLLI Regimental Centre Commandant warmly received him. Later on, he was ushered to the main area to receive military honours in the Guard of Honour, coloured with the presence of the SLLI Regimental mascot, ‘Kandula’ pachyderm.

While melodies of patriotic songs began to rend the air, the day’s Chief Guest, Major General Amal Karunasekara, accompanied by the parade commander afterwards reviewed the parade before he received the salute from the special dais.

A few minutes later, the new Chief of Staff of the Army placed a floral wreath at the SLLI monument before he joined All Ranks for refreshments and a group photograph.
