The new Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake paid a courtesy call on the State Minister of Defence Hon Ruwan Wijewardene this afternoon (13) at his office in the State Ministry of Defence.
A cordial meeting that ensued between the State Minister of Defence and the Commander of the Army covered discussions on matters of relevance to the Army.
During the meeting the Commander assured that he would cooperate with the State Minister of Defence all the time on matters pertaining to the Army.
Lieutenant General Senanayake also briefed him on a couple of future plans that he intends to launch within the organization in future.
State Minister Wijewardene in turn wished good luck to the new commander with his future endeavours.
Towards the end of the interaction mementoes were also exchanged between State Minister Wijewardene and Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake to mark the occasion.
